The leaders of Eket Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State have called on Nsima Ekere and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to embrace peace following the ruling of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the state.
They also commended Governor Udom Emmanuel over the judicial confirmation of his victory.
Speaking on behalf of leaders of the senatorial district, a former Minister of Lands and Housing, Nduese Essien said the victory was an affirmation of the unanimous votes freely given to Mr. Emmanuel during the gubernatorial poll.
Both Mr. Ekere and Mr. Emmanuel hail from Eket Senatorial District.
If the verdict of the tribunal is not challenged, Mr. Essien said the governor will be less distracted in his bid to develop the state for the good of all.
The Eket Senatorial District leader advised the APC candidate against appealing the ruling, saying it would not bring any good to the state.
Mr. Essien explained that pushing the case to the Appeal and Supreme courts would lead to another five months of legal and media confrontations between supporters of the two parties.
He noted the energy that would have been used in delivering projects and programmes to the state would be dampened.
Mr. Essien, therefore, urged Mr. Ekere and APC supporters to join hands with the governor to develop the state.
He argued that after a long-drawn legal battle, the governor woukd have less than three years to provide the needed leadership to the state.
