Nigerians have continued to react to the
Presidential Election Petition Tribunal ruling yesterday, hailing and congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari with a call to carry all citizens along for the peace and development of the nation.
A former Police Commissioner in Lagos State, Mr. Abubakar Tsav simply described the the judgement as perfect and a victory for Nigerians.
Tsav in a phone message said, “It’s perfect and I see it as victory for Nigeria and Nigerians in the fight against, and to sustain the fight against corruption.”
Tsav who emphasized that Buhari is a preferred candidate said, “Buhari is a better leader and I think God has acknowledged and endorsed this.”
Also reacting to the judgement, the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Benue state, in the 2019 election, Mr. Hingah Biem said the tribunal had done their job.
“The verdict had been passed and normally, in a tribunal judgement, you will always find people who will not agree with the judement. So for such people, if they want to appeal it, they are free to do so. If such people follow due process, it will be better for all of us.”
Mr. Biem said the powers to determine the case lay with the judges and called on Nigerians to respect their decision.
He stated that the essence of having the constitution and the laws was to guide the conduct of the people so that the society will not be a lawless one and urged those aggrieved to follow due process in seeking redress.
Mr. Biem advised President Buhari to carry all Nigerians along in the interest of the nation.
“The most important thing now is for us to move forward. Buhari is not one to be distracted but one must also advise that now that he has gotten judgement, he should bring Nigrians together. This is not the time for party politics, it is time to work,” he said.
