The Tor Tiv and Chairman, Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Orcivirgh Prof James Ayatse, has consoled the government and people of Nasarawa state over the death of the Emir of Lafia, Isa Mustapha Agwai 1.

The Tor Tiv expressed his condolence in a message to the Nasarawa State Gov., Tanko Al-makura, the Lafia Emirate Council as well as the entire people of Nasarawa State, on behalf of Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers and Tiv Area Traditional Council.

He described the late Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, late Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 as a great ruler who epitomized unity and tranquillity.

According to the Tor Tiv, the late Emir’s contributions to conflict resolution and nation building would continue to be in the memory of Nigerians.

He urged the Nasarawa people and his family members to be consoled by the fact that the late Emir lived a life worthy of emulation, saying his death was a Divine will.

In a statement by the media assistant to the Tiv monarch, Freddie Adamgbe, the Tor Tiv prayed God to grant the Soul of the late Emir eternal rest and all those he left behind the courage and fortitude to bear the irreparable lose.

Similarly, Benue state Gov., Samuel Ortom, commiserating with the government and people of Nasarawa State over the death of the Emir, described the demise of Agwai as “painful and unfortunate” adding that the late Emir was “a compassionate leader and father to all.”

Ortom in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase, recalled the contributions of late Agwai to peace-building between border communities of Benue and Nasarawa States.

He noted that the late Emir would be remembered for providing good leadership and impacting positively on the lives of his people during his 44-year reign.

Gov. Ortom sympathised with the Agwai family, the Lafia Emirate Council and prayed that God grants the departed ruler eternal rest.
