The Parmount ruler of the Tiv Nation, His Royal Majesty, Orcivirigh James Ayatse has emerged as the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, (AOCTRON).

This was announced in a press statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Tor Tiv on Media and ICT, Mr. Freddie Adamgbe, which was made available to newsmen in Makurdi.

In the statement, Mr. Adamgbe said the Tor Tiv and Chairman of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers became the President of AOCTRON at a meeting of the association which held in Abuja, on Monday 5th October 2020.

The statement read in part, “Leading traditional rulers under the auspices of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (AOCTRON) met on Monday 5th October 2020 in Abuja to discuss the state of the association and resolved to restructure and reposition the organization for greater effectiveness in the achievement of its set aims and objectives.

“They reconstituted the ten-member Board of Trustees with His Royal Majesty, Orcivirigh Professor James Ayatse, Tor Tiv and Chairman of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers as the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AOCTRON.”

According to him, the BOT also considered the positions in the National Executive Committee and approved the composition of the Southern and Northern blocs of the association each to be headed by a National Vice President.

“The Northern bloc is headed by HRM Jacob Gyang Buba, Gbong Gwon Jos and Chairman of Plateau State Council of Traditional Rulers while the Southern bloc is headed by His Royal Majesty, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Amanyanabo of Opobo and Chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.”

The statement said the two Vice Presidents are to ensure the proper restructuring and revitalization of their blocs.

He said the BOT also reviewed the state of the Nigerian nation and the current insecurity challenges and resolved to organize national prayers for the nation in collaboration with their Muslim Traditional rulers.

The BOT led by the President, His Royal Majesty Professor James Ayatse, paid a courtesy call on the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad, to brief him on several issues including activities on the planned national prayer of the association.
