Presidential Aspirant for the 2023 general elections, Bala Mohammed, has described the Tiv/Fulani killings in Benue state as part of conspiracy against national harmony.

Bala Mohammed who is currently the Governor of Bauchi state, made this observation in Makurdi, when he visited Governor Samuel Ortom and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to solicit their support ahead of 2023 presidential election.

Governor Bala Mohammed stated that owing to the maladministration of Nigeria by the current administration, Nigeria has been polarised along ethnic and religious lines and requires a bridge builder of his kind to pull the country together.

“Benue has been the craddle of our oneness. What is the benefit of seeing a Tiv man going and a Fulani man going and you kill him. It is just a conspiracy to destroy our harmony.

“We have to restructure and reconstruct our nation. I am conscious that every hand should be on deck on the issue of security. The food basket that you are must be reestablished. It should not be a gimmick.

“We must come up with a template, for restructuring. You cannot surrender safety and security to a clueless administration at the center, you cannot allow exclusion and nepotism to drive disillusionment and to cause misconception, sensibilities, up to the extent of threatening our collective heritage as Nigerians.”

While restarting that Nigeria needs collectivism and collective efforts to bring us out of the brinks, the presidential hopeful assured that if given the mandate, he would work with the state governments to tackle security and other development challenges that confronts the nation.

Responding, Governor Samuel Ortom urged presidential aspirants on the platform of the PDP to maintain peace and harmony among them as they carry on with their campaigns.

He stated that as qualified as all of them are with the requisite experience to lead the country, only one would be picked with the rest teaming up with the candidate to ensure that the party wins the election.

Also speaking. State Chairman of PDP, Mr. John Ngbede, assured Mohammed of support from Benue saying there was need to change the present government.
