An Abeokuta Magistrate’s court sitting in Isabo, on Friday sentenced a 29-year-old man, Abass Moshood, to six-months imprisonment for wilfully and unlawfully damaging his landlord’s sitting room door.

The Magistrate Mrs I. O. Abudu sentenced the convict, without any option of a fine, after he pleaded guilty to one-count charge of unlawful damage.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Lawrence Balogun, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan.15 at about 9: 50 a.m at Iwa street, Sabo area in Abeokuta.

Balogun said the convict wilfully and unlawfully damaged the sitting room door valued N20, 000, and property of one Mrs Morufat Ogunsola, who is the owner of the house, and complainant.

According to the prosecutor, the convict damaged the door to gain entrance into the sitting room in order to fight the complainant’s son, who he had a quarrel with.

He explained that the convict and the complainant’s son, had a misunderstanding and Moshood had threatened to beat him.

The Prosecutor stressed that the committed offence contravened section 451 of the criminal code of Ogun 2006. (NAN)
