Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has expressed dismay at the manner the palliatives are being provided by the Federal Government to contain the spread of COVID-19  pandemic.

It also said that Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, would not get the support of the North, for his 2023 presidential ambition for being sectional in provision of palliatives to support the vulnerable.

The group, in a statement issued by its national president, Isah Abubakar, on Tuesday, maintained that it was unacceptable for the government to have claimed that it had given out over N50 billion in less than three days to about 2.5 million people, describing it as the highest scam in the country.

The statement reads in part, “It’s outrightly wrong for government to have claimed that it has given out over N50 billion in less than three days to 2.5 million people, and to us as a council, it is a scam at the highest level.

“It is also obvious that Tinubu, who is seen as a nationalist, has chosen only Lagos to benefit from his N200 million donations when he fully knows that only Lagos cannot make him president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” it added.

The group maintained that Tinubu should be assured that the  North was watching from afar and would never support his aspiration in the nearest future.

It pointed out that it could not afford to mortgage the future of Nigerians just like what had been happening in Lagos.

NYCN, therefore, called on government to depart from the experience Nigerians were going through with health challenge, and standardise the field of medicine, upgrade medical facilities all over the country, and avoid medical tourism which the country had been known for.
