The Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Mr. Gabriel Suswam has appealed to the people of the state to encourage their leaders to action, through positive comments and avoid acts that would breed divisions.
Suswam made call while addressing Benue youths and graduates of skill acquisition programme at SEV-AV Foundation, in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
The Benue North East Seantor who disclosed that he was working closely with his successor, Governor Samuel Ortom for the development of the state, also posited that his working relationship has doused a lot of tension in the state.
Suswam, therefore, solicited for support and encouragement from Benue people saying “as a representative of the people, I can only be encouraged through positive comments to be able to attract what is due to Benue, but if there is so much negativity, you easily get discouraged.

“I and Governor Samuel Ortom are working closely together and some few people are not happy. That is a kind of negativity that people need to worry about.
“And by my working relationship with the Governor, a lot of tension has been reduced in the state. That is what we need. We need our followers and supporters to continue to encourage us to work together for development to the state.
“Ther is no need to continue to say I am a Suswam person or I am an Ortom person. We are all working for the common good of the common man in Benue. Do not create artificial divisions. We are all in the same boat sailing towards the same objective and that objective is to enhance the wellbeing of our people.”
He noted that Benue has a lot of resources which must be taken advantage of to lift the people out of poverty.
He urged Benue youths to improve on themselves by acquiring skills explaining that the Senate has magnanimously ensured that the 2020 budget has a lot of provisions to assist the youths acquire skills and excel in entreprenuership.
Suswam also comended the efforts of Gov. Ortom’s administration in building on his achievements in office especially in the area of enterprenuership.
