The late superman known globally as ‘Super Dragon’ will be laid to rest today in his home town, Ikot Eyo in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The home of the legendary sports impressario, Chief Ubong Hanson Etukudo, who was also known as ‘World Sampson,’ has been receiving visitors from far and wide since his demise September last year.

Yesterday, members of Ubium North Stakeholders Forum who visited  described him as a man who came from humble beginnings and took the name of his community, Ubium and Akwa Ibom State to international recognition.

Elder Inyang Ekoriko, the leader of the delegation and former Permanent Secretary in the Akwa Ibom State Liaison Office in Abuja, while on a condolence visit to the family, said members of the Forum were proud to have had Super Dragon as one of their own.

He noted that although the late Elder Hanson Etukudo was a man of strength and courage, he did not forsake his maker as he worshipped God in spirit and in truth.

Elder Ekoriko prayed the Almighty God to grant the soul of the late icon eternal repose and to raise someone that will fill the void created by his departure. He also asked God to give the family and the community, which he greatly assisted to develop, the fortitude to bear the loss.

The wife of the deceased, Obonganwan (Evangelist) Imaobong Hanson, appreciated the visit of the Ubium North Stakeholders Forum for showing solidarity with her during her period of grief.

She used the opportunity to call on parents to send their children to school;  and for the children to take their studies seriously as it is a veritable part to greater and more focused growth and development.

Obongawan Hanson pointed out that if the legendary Super Dragon had had a surfeit of quality education, he would have done much better, given his endowment and exploits.

With limited education the man rose from a humble beginning to international prominence. Recalling that the man was only educated up to Standard Three of his days, the widow said the sky would have been his limit if he had the opportunity to go further in education.

Among those in the Ubium North Stakeholders delegation were the Secretary, Mr. Anietie Akpan, Deaconess Jessey Ekpo, Elder Eno Edward Akpan, Bishop Godwin Okoko, Prince Umana Okoko and Prince Ime Udofia.

Others were Hon. Uduak Umoh, Madam Comfort Umoh and Hon. Aniefiok Johnny.
