Some Senatorial and House of Representative candidates in Delta State have rejected the results of the last Saturday’s elections.

Top on the list is Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the former governor of the state, who has called for the cancellation of the National Assembly elections in Delta South.

In a statement, he said he made the call after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of the Delta South senatorial district in which he lost to James Manager, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to him, the elections were fraught with a lot of electoral malpractices, irregularities and violence.

Consequently, he said he petitioned INEC during the collation of results and the final announcement at the Senatorial Collation Centre in Oleh, Isoko South LGA after which he called for the cancellation.

Manager, the incumbent in the senatorial district beat Uduaghan by securing 258,812 votes.

Similarly, Evelyn Oboro, PDP Delta Central senatorial candidate, called for the cancellation of the senatorial election over alleged rigging and result manipulations.

Oboro alleged in a statement that the election was “massively rigged in Ughelli North, Udu, Ethiope East, Ughelli South and Ethiope West Local Government Areas in favour of the APC candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.”

Recall that INEC announced the APC candidate, Omo-Agege, as winner of the Delta Central seat, polling 111, 120 votes to defeat Oboro, who had 99, 422 Votes.

Again, Paul Adingwupu, APC flag bearer for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal House of Representatives, also rejected the results, alleging that the whole process was compromised by his opponent, the PDP candidate, Ndudi Elumelu.

Adingwupu said the result was a sham and did not reflect the true outcome of the poll.

George Timinimi, Director-General, Chief Great Ogboru Campaign Organisation of APC in Delta State, noted that the elections in the areas were massively rigged and their supporters harassed during the Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
