Greater Makurdi Women Development Association has donated safety materials to the Vigilante group in the Area to boost it’s performance.
The items donated include assorted Torch Lights and Industrial Robber Shoes to facilitate their movement during Night hours.
Making the presentation in Makurdi, Chairman of the Association, Mrs. Mercy Omonya said they were moved to make the donation because of the efforts the vigilante group has made in complementing other security Agents in the state.
Mrs. Omonya who noted that their efforts have reduced crime in the area to the bearest minimum further advised the vigilante group to be civil in their conduct and not to take Laws into their own hands.
She assured the group that the association will sustain support for them through prayers and more donations.

Addressing both the vigilante and the group, the women Divisional police officer in charge of D Division, Mr. Daniel Enenche charged the vigilante group to always ensure that recruitment of members is based on good conduct and not to allow politics to divide them, but to work as a team to achieve the desired results.
Mr. Enenche enjoined the group to always consult the police before taking any action and called on the Women Association to sustain the support not only to the vigilante but to other security agents by volunteering information .
In their separate comments, members of the women group, Mrs. Helen Teghtegh and Maimuna Ekwuleno stated that women were now playing vital roles towards ensuring the security of lives and property of the people.
They promised to support the vigilante group to succeed just as they commended the DPO D Division for his support to the success of the event.
Responding, president of the Vigilante group, Mr. Joseph Iorpuu thanked the association for their donation saying the items would enhance their performance greatly, especially at night.
Mr. Iorpuu also assured the police of their resolve to always consult them and not to take laws into their hands for the peace and progress of the state.
