The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has warned motorists to be cautious due to the change in weather condition.

The commission through its Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeen, said the foggy weather is now blurring visibility and impeding driving.

Mr. Kazeem said it is imperative for motorists to drive carefully, avoid overtaking at blind spots, apply common sense when speeding and put on headlights and tail lights.

He argued these measures were necessary given the poor level of visibility and the need to see ahead when driving.

“Most part of the country is affected with more critical situations found around the Northern axis of the country,” Mr. Kazeem said.

“Following prescribed speed limit this period is no longer necessary as motorists would not be able to see far ahead nor notice obstructions.

“The weather s equally accompanied with a hazy condition that brings dust that is equally hazardous.”

The FRSC spokesperson said motorists should strive to meet the minimum safety standards with good wipers, head and rear lights and braking system that is mechanically efficient.
