The federal government has said that it rejected the conditions given by the United States for the sale of its fighter jets because they were too stringent.
The jets are 12 A-29 Super Tucano and worth about $494 million.
The conditions, according to the Minister of Defecne, Mansur Dan-Ali, who spoke with State House correspondents on Thursday included that the sale would not be made until 2020.
Also, the US said Nigerian technicians would not be trained by US and they would not be part of the maintenance crew.

Dan-Ali said the conditions were against the usual practice.
His words: “These conditions, we will not accept… They are also thinking of not allowing our technicians to be part of the production inspection.
“But this is what we normally do in all the defence contracts, we send our personnel to go and understudy, especially when it comes to specialised aircrafts. In Russia, our personnel are permanently based in where the production is being done for this MI35 helicopters.”
He however said there were plans to meet the US ambassador to review the conditions.
He also said that the payment would only be made when the conditions are reduced.
