A driving instructor, Festus Udo, on Thursday confessed that he raped and strangled a 23-year-old National Youth Service Corps member, Miss Modupe Kawose.

Udo, who is from Uromi, Edo State, spoke when he was paraded by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed.

Udo said he lured Kawose who had registered at Lizzy Driving School where he was an instructor, to a bush where he raped and killed her.

According to him Kawose had called on Saturday to demand for her learner’s permit, and he seized the opportunity to carry out the crime.

He explained:  “As she arrived Lafenwa, I told her to follow me to the place where I would process the permit for her.

“We boarded a vehicle and later took a bike to Iberokodo, and we alighted at a junction.

“She was surprised and she asked, ‘Is this where you live?’

“As we entered the bush, I said I wanted to have sex with her, she said no.

“I dragged her into the bush and had sex with her. She threatened to inform her family.

“It was at this stage that I tore her clothes and used it to strangled her, tying it around her neck.”

Speaking on the case, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police said his command got to know about the case when ‎it received a letter that a corps member was missing.

The letter was written by the coordinator of the NYSC in the state, Mr. John Okoh.

“We went for a powerful technical screening of fact left behind by the last person she made contact with, who is the suspect, and we were able to arrest him,” he added.
