The Ambassador of France to Nigeria, Mr. Denys Gauer, made this known on Tuesday when he visited the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara.

Gauer said Macron was interested in the development of Nigeria, having worked in Abuja in the early period of his career.

He was said to have worked in Abuja for six months.

The ambassador said the visit would be an opportunity for Nigeria and France to deepen their relationships, especially in the areas of youth development, culture and creativity.

At present, the relationship between the two countries border largely on security.

Speaking on the planned visit, Dogara said it would be interesting to have the French president address the legislature.

He said since he became president, Macron had brought dynamism to governance in view of his youthfulness.

Macron is “a man of our generation,” Dogara said.

The Speaker thanked the French government for its support in the fight against the terrorists group, Boko Haram.

He said the National Assembly would be willing to approve all the bilateral agreements that would be signed during Macron’s visit to Nigeria.
