The police have arrested 16 suspected kidnappers described as very vicious.
The kidnappers, it was gathered, kill and drink the blood of their victims.
The arrest which was made during the yuletide in Niger State was disclosed to the public by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jimoh Moshood.
According to him, the men were responsible for operating on Abuja-Kaduna Road in Sabon Wuse in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
With one Ibrahim Umar as the leaders, other suspected members of the group include Isiaka Mohammed, Hassan Usman, Mubarak Adamu, Yisuf Sani, Musa Usman, Yakabu Wakili, Abdullahi Abdulkarim.
Moshood, disclosed the items recovered from the suspects were five AK 47 rifles, nine AK 47 magazines, two cutlasses, one cell phone and 1,598 rounds of ammunition.
He revealed that the arrest was carried out through coordinated operations by the Special Tactical Squad operating in the area.
Moshood said the gang leader as well as other members had confessed to committing the crime they were arrested for.

Umar, the gang leader, was said to have confessed to killing no fewer than 10 persons during their operations.
According to him, any of their victims who could not pay ransom would be killed and his blood drank.
“The suspects will be arraigned in court after the completion of investigation,” he police spokesman said.
Moshood also disclosed that the force had evolved a new security arrangement to fight and prevent crimes in the country in the new year.
It would be recalled that the police on Sunday confirmed the kidnap of a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mr. Hosea Ibi.
Ibi represents Takum I in the State House of Assembly.
The Taraba State Police Command’s spokesman, Mr. David Misal, said in Jalingo, that Ibi was kidnapped in Takum, his hometown Saturday night.
The police said it had mobilised his men to rescue the legislator.
