A 38-year-old Manager, Ademola Olayemi, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N1.487 million.
Olayemi, who resides at No. 40, Enibegiloju St., off Odogunyan in Ikorodu, Lagos, is charged with stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Akeem Raji, told the court that the defendant stole the sum of N1.487 million from the complainant, one Mr. Paul Olugbodi.
Raji said that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 14, at 2.00 p.m. at Oando filling station, old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege in Lagos.

The prosecutor stated that the defendant allegedly converted the proceeds from sales of petrol to his personal use.
“All attempts made to retrieve the money from the defendant proved abortive,” he said.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State. 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O. I. Adelaja, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Adelaja said that the sureties must be gainfully employed, with evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The stealing from an employer is punishable with seven years imprisonment upon conviction.
