President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday disclosed the outcome of their meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The two leaders of the National Assembly met with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, over the killings in Plateau State.
Emerging from the meeting, Saraki told State House correspondents that the essence of the visit to the president was to look for the way out of the current state of insecurity.
Saraki said the president, during the meeting, briefed them on the efforts being made to stem the tide.
His words: “He explained how steps are being taken to forestall re-occurrence and restore sanity because this is a great concern to him and to us also.”
He said the discussions during the meeting included the measures the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and security agencies would take towards ensuring safety.

Also speaking with journalists, Dogara confirmed that the president explained the steps being taken to forestall a repeat of the Plateau killings.
According to him, the president also relayed to them his findings during his visit to Plateau on Tuesday.
Dogara stated further: “My advice to our people, not just in Plateau State, but Benue, Zamfara, Taraba, virtually some communities faced with this situation especially in the north, I think the issue of securing our communities, living in peace must be taken as a project.
“It is something each and everyone of us must invest in, whether as traditional rulers, as community leaders, councilors or as chairmen. All strata of society must invest in peace building.
“That is the only way we can live in a secure community and ensure that we progress, as a country.”
