President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Jos, the Plateau State capital, Tuesday afternoon to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the killings by herdsmen.
No fewer than 86 people were killed at the weekend in some communities in the state.
The president was earlier in the day in Cross River State where he commissioned the seedlings and seed multiplication factory in Calabar.
His programme in Jos as made public on his twitter handle include meeting major stakeholders with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the problem of insecurity.
The tweet reads: “The President has just arrived Plateau State. He‘ll be meeting with community leaders, traditional rulers, reps of various stakeholder groups, & security chiefs. @AsoRock is determined to find a lasting solution to the crises & ensure enduring security, peace & justice#SecuringNC.”

On arrival in Jos, the president was received at the airport by Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was also in the state on Monday, giving assurance that the perpetrators of the mayhem would be apprehended and brought to book.
Efforts are already ongoing to ensure security of lives and property.
Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had sent a special team to the state.
The special team is made up of Intelligence Response Team, IRT; Special Tactical Squad, STS; three Police Mobile Force units and five Armored Personnel Carriers, APCs.
Also two helicopters are already in the state for aerial surveillance.
