A meeting of states chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is holding in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
It is the first time the meeting would be held outside Abuja.
At the meeting, the chairmen would have the opportunity of discussing critical issues concerning the coming elective national convention and other issues affecting the growth of the party in the country.
The chairmen who arrived Uyo on Tuesday were received by the chairman of the conference and Akwa Ibom State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, at his residence.
The reception was a colourful event he in honour of the visitors.

Speaking to journalists, PDP Rivers State Chairman, Felix Obuah, said the PDP chieftains would begin the meeting in the morning.
He thanked the party in the state for being a willing and capable host.
A cross section of the chairmen who spoke to journalists expressed their satisfaction with the level of development witnessed in the state.
The historic meeting in Akwa Ibom State is coincides with the 19th anniversary of the PDP in Nigeria.
