Over 1,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State on Friday defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The former loyalists of the Governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Buruji Kashamu, were received by the Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor, Tunji Egbetokun.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kunle Somorin, which disclosed this, described the defection as “a show of solidarity with Gov. Dapo Abiodun.”

Egbetokun welcomed the decampees saying the APC was open to all.

He also assured them that all members are treated with fairness and justice notwithstanding when they joined the party.

He said, “Our party is open to all, even members of other parties. You have come at the right time. In our party, we do not discriminate as we give due recognition to all members irrespective of how long they have been members or their social standing.”

Leader of the decampees, Mr. Kolawole Akinyemi, said their decision to join the APC was due to the achievements so far made by Gov. Abiodun.
