The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the ward, local government and state executive committees of the Ebonyi state chapter of the party with immediateeffect.
The NWC announced this in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja on Tuesday.
The statement also announced the dissolution of the South-East Zonal Caretaker Committee of the party.
According to Ologbondiyan, the NWC took the decision at a crucial meeting on Tuesday.

He said that the decisions were pursuant to the powers conferred on the NWC by the PDP Constitution.
Though the party did not give reasons for the action, it is believed to be connected with the decision of the state governor, David Umahi to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) where he allegedly hopes to actualise his presidential ambition come 2023.
Umahi has, however, denied this.
Giving reasons for his planned defection, Umahi, acused the PDP of marginalising the South-east.
He also kicked against the party’s silence on zoning the presidency to the region.
