The Presidency has set up a five man delegation to commiserate with the people of Anambra State over the killing of some worshippers at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ofufe-Amakwa, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.
The delegation is to visit the state and present a letter of condolence to the governor.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity (Office of the Vice-President), Mr. Laolu Akande, the approval for the setting up of the delegation was made by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo.
The delegation is made up of the Ministers of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole; Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of State for Environment, Mallam Usman Jibril and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwuka.
“In the letter, Prof. Osinbajo extends deep commiserations to the families, friends of the victims and the Ozubulu community on the death of their sons and daughters and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured still in the hospital.
“The Acting President condemned in very strong terms the atrocious and dastardly act which has brought sorrow to many innocent families and has rightly provoked widespread condemnation,’’ Laolu Akande said.

Osinbajo was quoted as saying that the federal government was committed to ensuring safety of life and property.
According to him, “such barbaric act constitutes an affront to our common humanity, and challenges, but will not overwhelm our collective resolve to rid our communities of all forms of violent crimes and criminality.’’
Stressing that no stone would be left unturned in the efforts to secure lives and property, Osinbajo said he had directed law enforcement agencies to ensure that the culprits were brought to justice without delay.
It would be recalled that on Sunday, no fewer than 13 worshippers were killed and several others injured when a gunman stormed the church in Anambra State.
The air has since been cleared on the issue that it was not a religious war but that of gangs.
