Oyo State Government has vowed to eradicate any form of quack practices in all private medical facilities and government owned hospitals.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan, made the pledge while receiving Oyo State House Committee on Health, which paid him a visit on budget performance, in his office in Ibadan during the week.

Adeduntan explained that the expectations of the general public and indigenes of Oyo State were high.

He said they wanted something good to showcase by the Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration, noting that the State’s Task Force which was set up to sanitise private health facilities in the health sector was yielding positive results.

According to him, some of the private health practitioners had complied with the rules and regulations guiding their operations.

He re-assured residents of the state of quality health care delivery, reiterating that funds realised from the N50 billion Oyo State Health Endowment Fund would be spent on the upgrade of all medical facilities in the six geo-political zones in the state.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Oyo State House Committee on Health, Hon. Silas Adelere Okunlola, said that the purpose of their visitation was to let the Ministry of Health know that the Nigerian Constitution empowered the House Committees to monitor the expenditure of the state, consolidated revenue fund and monitor the level of implementation of government policies.

Okunlola said that the House scored the budget performance of the Ministry of Health very high.
