The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in the Sept. 22, Osun governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke has debunked claims that some members of the Adeleke family met with Senator Bola Tinubu’s representatives.

He spoke in reaction to news in some media that there was a meeting between some members of the Adeleke family and Tinubu’s representatives over the pending case of trumped up charges of examination malpractices against him.

He reiterated his commitment to retrieving what he termed his stolen mandate.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke, described the report as “lies from the pits of hell,” and a product of “a demented mind inspired by mandate usurpers who have been roundly rejected by the people.”

The statement read: “The false report is clearly cooked up and sponsored by a violent election rigger who is desperately seeking to kill the incontrovertible election petition for retrieval of the stolen mandate.

“Let me make this unequivocally clear that I remain unshaken and undeterred in resolve to fight for the freedom of the over four million Osun people trapped by the APC induced poverty, I will not and CANNOT negotiate away the free will mandate given to me by Osun people.

“No member of the Adeleke family is desirous to meet anyone involved in the pervasive suffering experienced by our people. No amount of blackmail, persecution or threat to my life can change the will of God for the freedom of Osun people.

“Senator Adeleke is in Abuja performing his Senatorial duties as well as strategically pushing the ongoing litigation to restore the stolen mandate of good people of Osun state at the Tribunal.

“Though this matter is before a court of competent jurisdiction, we reaffirm the innocence of Sen. Adeleke on the cooked up charges of examination malpractice and we are convinced that the court of law being the abode of justice and equity will soon rule declaring him innocent.

“The Adeleke family has a legacy of service to humanity and the fight against the oppression of the underprivileged as well as any form of injustice and this legacy will be jealously guarded and preserved COME WHAT MAY!”

While urging his many supporters to disregard the report, Adeleke stressed that no amount of intimidation and false reporting would make him abandon his quest to retrieve the stolen mandate, adding that “it is a sacred duty to restore the mandate of our people.

“We have a historic duty to vigorously pursue the case against election rigging with all requisite constitutional means. We will ensure that the votes of Osun people which returned Sen. Adeleke as the duly elected Governor of Osun state is respected.”
