Following the suspension of six Executive Chairmen of Gboko, Oju, Kwande, Okpokwu, Agatu and Makurdi local governments by Benue state house of Assembly, Governor Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday, swore in six acting chairmen to take their place.
The Governor also swore in two Commissioners to oversee the Ministries of Arts and Culture and that of Housing and Urban Development.
Recall that the Benue State House of Assembly had on Monday, granted a request brought to it by the State Gov. to suspend the chairmen.
The suspended chairmen were accused of gross misconduct, misappropriation of local government funds and abuse of office.
Performing the inauguration at the Benue People’s House, (Government House) in Makurdi, Ortom urged the new chairmen to settle down quickly and add value to the development of their various councils and the state at large.
Governor Ortom explained that the chairmen were suspended after three months of due investigations into the cause of their suspension.
He enjoined the caretaker Chairmen to carry all stakeholders along in the course of the work to enable them deliver on their assignment.
The governor also urged the two commissioners not to allow political activities overtake their official responsibilities.

The caretaker chairmen inaugurated include; Solomon Kighir for Kwande LG, Var Tersoo for Gboko, Mrs Lynn Goon for Makurdi, Omale Vincent for Okpokwu, Alhaji Oyigocho for Agatu LG, and Mrs Ode Evelyn for Oju.
The two Commissioners sworn-in were; Mrs Amina Audu as commissioner for Arts and Culture, and Hon Ekpe Ogbu as commissioner of Housing and Urban Development.
