As the people of Ondo State are getting ready for Saturday’s election, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu, has said that his party’s candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, is the best option for the state.

Kalu, the National Coordinator, Peoples Democratic Party Coalition (PDPCO), who spoke through a statement in Lagos on Thursday, said the people of Ondo State should use the election to usher in the real change that had been lacking in the state by voting massively for Jegede to ensure that they enjoy the real democracy dividends.

While he urged the people to ensure violence-free poll, he stressed the need for the Ondo electorate to exercise their franchise, and shun all provocations by members of the other parties, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), and watch over their votes till they were counted and collated.

Kalu stated: “The time has come when Nigerians must continue to express their resolve to insist on good governance, taking a cue from the recent Edo State election.

“Edo people did not only exercise their civic responsibility, they also defended their votes against political desperadoes. Such people are presently rearing their heads in Ondo State, but they must be checked in a peaceful manner.

“I am glad that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken the path of honour by pledging to ensure free and fair elections, where the will of the people will be upheld as their votes will count. I challenge Ondo electorate to rise up to this occasion.

“I am therefore appealing to the Ondo electorate to go out and vote for Mr. Eyitayo Jegede for the desired change and good governance.

“They should never be intimidated by any political brigandage being exhibited by members of the ruling party.

“Ondo people have the right and duty to dump unfavourable leadership to embrace a progressive one, which the PDP candidate represents.”
