The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, has called on security agencies to apprehend and bring to book the thugs that attacked the journalists that covered the All Progressives Congress’ state congress in Akure, Ondo State, on Saturday.
The union described the attack as condemnable.
Also the union called on the security agencies to prevent political violence in the state, especially in view of the coming political year.

In a statement issued by the Secretary of the union in the state, Mr. Leke Adegbite, the journalists attacked by political thugs include Damisi Ojo of The Nation; Bamigbola Gbolagunte of Daily Sun; Sunkanmi Elujoba of Adaba FM; and James Sowole of This Day.
According to the statement, other journalists narrowly escaped attack.
