The National Youth Service Corps Integrated Farm Settlement established in all the geo-political zones is designed to empower Nigerian youth especially the corps members.

The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Suleiman Zakare Kazaure, disclosed this on Friday at Paago Village, Iseyin, Oyo State during inspection and facility assessment tour of projects of his administration.

General Kazaure said NYSC would continue to establish and fund projects that would have direct impact on Nigerian youth.

According to the NYSC boss, establishment of Integrated Farm Settlement in all the six geo-political zones of the country was to complement food security programme of the federal government.

“NYSC as we all know has the highest manpower and best human resource domain in the country which is capable of training youth to feed the nation.

“The farms are principally established as a training ground for corps members to nurture vibrant Nigerians and to empower them to be self-sufficient in order to becoming great entrepreneurs and industrialists,” he said.

The director general thanked the local government and good people of Iseyin for bequeathing such legacy to the scheme.

The number one corps member nationwide said he had come to Iseyin to see things for himself and map out the strategy for the way forward.

The Executive Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Engineer Abolade Akanni Yekeen, promised to facilitate the release of title deed and all documents relating to the acquisition of the land.

Engineer Yekeen said that the council was ever ready to assist the scheme to achieve the objectives for which the farm was set up.

The host Coordinator, Mrs. Ifeoma Anidobi, informed the director general that activities would be in full swing at the farm as soon as the farmhouse was completed.

The state coordinator however appealed to the director general to ask the main contractor to return to the site and complete the farmhouse before the commencement of next farming season.

The director general who was accompanied by the Director, Special Duties, Mr. Hilary Nasamu, and Acting  Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, thereafter inspected the farm with a promise to speed up activities on the farm.
