NNL: Bendel Insurance FC defeat Spartan FC 2-0

Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin on Saturday defeated Spartan FC of Lagos 2-0 in their opening match of the 2017/2018 Nigeria National League (NNL).

Junior Osaghae opened scoring for Insurance eight minutes into the game played at the University of Benin Sports Complex in Benin.

Charles Omokaro scored the second goal about 29 minutes later.

At the end of the match, Insurance FC’s Chief Coach, Baldwin Bazuaye, lauded his team’s performance throughout the 90 minutes of play.

Bazuaye said he was happy his players got the required result, adding that they were in good shape.

On his part, Spartan FC Head Coach, Abubakar Musa, commended the spirit of his players, saying that the game was a good one.

Musa said playing against an experienced team like Insurance FC was not an easy task.

“But as it is now, we are going back home to prepare for our next match,’’ he said.

Speaking also with newsmen, Edo’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who watched the match and later spoke with both coaches and their players, said both teams’ efforts were commendable.

Shaibu then praised Edo people for their support for the team.

He appealed to every Edo indigene to buy Insurance FC jersey as “it will serve as a motivation for the players.’’
