NiMet Predicts Cloudy, Thundery Weather Activities Tuesday – Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy and thundery weather activities across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.
In its weather outlook released on Monday in Abuja, NiMET noted that it had been a rainy day for most cities in the country with cool day temperatures and much cloudiness.

According to the agency, cloudy morning with prospects of overnight thunderstorms are expected in Southern Sokoto, Southern Borno, Southern Taraba, Bauchi, Yobe, Kano and Kebbi on Tuesday.
“Later in the day, there are prospects of a few thunderstorms to affect parts of Kano, Yobe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Kaduna.

“The central cities should have cloudy skies with prospects of light thunderstorms over parts of Abuja, Niger, Lokoja, Makurdi and Jos in the morning hours.

“A few thunderstorms are likely over Abuja, Jos, Minna and Makurdi in the afternoon/evening periods.

Cloudy morning is expected over inland cities of the south with chances of light thunderstorms over parts of Abakaliki,“ it said.

The agency predicted some thunderstorms over the region later in the afternoon and evening periods.

It further predicted that coastal region would experience light rains in the morning with more prospects of light thunderstorms over the region in the afternoon and evening periods.

“On Wednesday, cloudy conditions should prevail with prospects of morning thunderstorms over most parts of; Sokoto, Gusau, Kano, Yobe, Borno and Gombe axis.

“Later in the afternoon and evening periods, thunderstorms are likely over some parts of Borno, Katsina, Kano, Gombe, Jalingo and Kaduna axis.

“It should be predominantly cloudy over the central cities with chances of morning thunderstorms to affect parts of Abuja, Jos and Minna axis.

“Thunderstorms are expected to affect FCT, Niger, Nassarawa, Kwara and Plateau axis in the afternoon and evening periods.

”Thunderstorms are envisaged over the inland cities of the south in the morning hours,“ it said.

The agency envisaged South West inland cities to be cloudy in the morning with chances of thunderstorms over the inland cities of Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia and Imo.
NiMet forecast a few thunderstorms likely over the south west inland with the south east inland in cloudy conditions during the afternoon and evening periods.

It further forecast chances of thunderstorms over the South East coast in the morning with better chances of thunderstorms over the region in the afternoon and evening hours.

“On Thursday, cloudy conditions with chances of thunderstorms are likely over Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, Yobe, Jigawa, Borno and environs in the morning.

“Later in the afternoon and evening periods, a few thunderstorms should be expected over most parts of the region.

“The central cities are likely to experience a few morning thunderstorms over Nassarawa, Plateau, Abuja, Benue and Kogi axis,“ it said.

According to NiMET, a few thunderstorms are envisaged over FCT, Niger and Kwara in the afternoon and evening periods.
NiMet predicted inland cities of the south to be cloudy in the morning with good prospects of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening period.

It envisaged cloudy conditions over the coastal cities with chances of thunderstorms over Calabar and Eket with a few thunderstorms over the region later in the day.
