The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been criticized for the honour done to the South African President, Jacob Zuma, during his visit to Nigeria.
Zuma was in Imo State on a two-day working visit.
During the visit, a number of activities were carried out in his honour.
They include the award of a chieftancy title, Ochiagha di oha mma of Igbo Land (the people’s warlord); the naming of a road after him and the erection of his statue.
Some of the activities were witnessed by former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and some other top Nigerians.
But in their reactions, many Nigerians who took to the social media described Jacob Zuma as undeserving of the honour.
The criticism, was, among others, in view of the running battle Zuma is having back home in his party, the African National Congress, ANC, over allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
Also, Nigerians were furious that honour was given to the president of a country where Nigerians are regularly attacked and killed unjustly.
