The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday reported 476 more COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infections to 50,964.
The health agency also said seven more deaths were recorded on the same day, raising the fatality figure to 992.
According to the update which the NCDC posted on its verified Twitter handle, the new cases were reported from 17 states and the FCT.

Lagos recorded the highest number of fresh cases – 235 – with Abuja coming a distant second with 44 new infections.
Details of the new infections are as follows:
Lagos-25, FCT-44, Kaduna-41, Borno-33, Plateau-28, Abia-13, Edo-13, Rivers-12, Imo-11, Oyo-10, Kano-9, Kwara-7, Enugu-5, Katsina-5, Gombe-4, Ogun-4, Nasarawa-1and Zamfara-1.
Meanwhile, the health agency said 37,569 COVID-19 patients have been successfully treated and discharged as of Thursday, August 20.
