General Overseer of Christ Royal Family Church, Bishop Tom Samson, has deplored the current state of the nation, saying that Nigeria is under siege.

He warned that there are ominous signs in the realm of the spirit about Nigeria and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take decisive steps to end the persistent bloodshed in the country.

He also charged the country’s leadership to address current security challenges and rising poverty across the land.

The cleric said that there are ominous signals in the horizon about Nigeria and the outcome may be catastrophic if nothing is done to avert the impending doom.

Samson, who gave the warning in an interview in Lagos, said that the blood of citizens being shed in Nigeria has been crying for vengeance.

He also said that his annual programme entitled, ‘It is War,’ which holds at the Ikeja Airport Hotel from August 4 will seek spiritual solution to the country’s current challenges and halt Satan’s scheme to cause chaos in Nigeria.

The bishop however, urged the present administration to play its expected role in order to restore people’s confidence in the country.

“There are more killings these days and the president should do something to stop it. Kidnapping has become so rampant that people are now apprehensive. So the president should sit up and stop these herdsmen attacks across the nation.

“We don’t know what is happening in the Boko Haram war, yet people are being killed every day. The South West that used to be very peaceful has become something else. Parts of South East and South South are no longer safe as well.

“We need to be cautious because any nation where shedding of blood is constant and widespread that nation is doomed. Search the scriptures, anywhere innocent blood is being shed, the blood will cry for vengeance, such a nation will witness strange occurrences, tragedies and tribulations,” he said.

“Imagine a whole family being wiped out, some of the people that were travelling to see their family members couldn’t get to their destination; their lives were cut short along the way. Evil is multiplying in Nigeria and we have two groups to appeal to; the government officials and the religious leaders.

“The government should be proactive in its actions, so also the religious leaders need to pray more because Satan wants to have this country.

“Nigeria needs our prayer and we have been praying that is why this country is being sustained up till now. Satan has always wanted to scatter this country but the fact that Nigeria is still one today is as a result of the prayers.

“Nigeria’s existence has been threatened, apart from the civil war; we have had the June 12 crisis and so many riots here and there that should have scattered this country but God has been sustaining it. However, our leaders should not take things for granted,” he said.

Samson also advised the federal government not to take people’s land under any guise, saying that doing so will compound the country’s problems.

According to him, “People are ready to die if what they consider as their inheritance is taken away from them.

“The issue of land that the government and the political class are about to dabble into is dangerous to the existence of this country. People kill for land, even in families, people kill for land. If you attempt to take people’s land, they are ready to shed their blood. Most of the communal crises where lives have been lost are as a result of land dispute.

“This is where the political class should be very careful because you don’t take people’s inheritance and expect them to be happy, they will fight,” he said.

The cleric said that Satan sometimes leads political leaders to the wrong path in order to destroy a nation and urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders.

He said, “Satan uses leaders to wreck havoc to nations, Satan used David to take the census of Israelites because he wanted to destroy Israel, and David counted the Israelites when the Lord said that he shouldn’t count the people. Satan motivated David to do that and because of that wrong decision, many people died.

“So we must be praying for the leaders because a leader can be led to do what will provoke God and come up with laws that can destroy a nation,” he said.

On the forthcoming event of his ministry, he said, “Things are terrible in this nation. The devil can lockup the destiny of a nation. What is currently going on in Nigeria is one of the devil’s plans to torment the nation.

“This programme will affect this nation, there is a way we speak to a nation and that nation will begin to hear, especially when one is under divine mandate.”
