The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus has said the actions of the President Muhammadu Buhari led Government during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections were pointers to the fact Nigeria was now under a dictatorship.
He has also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of treating Nigerians with impunity because they have the military might on their side.
Secondus, while declaring open the expanded caucus meeting of the party at its Wadata Plaza headquarters on Monday, noted that “the value of Nigerians in a democracy has been diminished because President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling APC have chosen to use the military to get what Nigerian voters cannot give them.”
In a statement from his media office, he berated the administration for their various electoral criminalities and called for immediate and unconditional release from custody, the two personal staff of the PDP, Presidential flag bearer Uyi Giwa Osagie his lawyer and Abdullahi Babalele his son- in-law whom he described as political prisoners.
The National Chairman wondered why Nigerian leaders are keeping quiet in the face of blatant abuse of human rights and electoral brigandage.
He reminded the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu and members of the Commission as well as operatives of the military making themselves willing tools for APC that history was recording their activities and at the appropriate time they will answer for their deeds.
He said “with the way things are”, new leaders may only be announced in 2023 without any election taking place. Never has it happened in the history of our country that INEC will be so compromised,” the PDP chairman said.
“What happened on the 23rd has never happened since independence. All Nigerians are aware and the leaders are not talking. If you don’t talk against evil, one day evil will pursue everyone.

“With things like this, in 2023 there may not be an election, it will be an announcement. It may be to put the figures together and announce.
“Our supporters and leaders are being arrested and the leaders of our country and peace committee are keeping quiet. What we have now is a full blown dictatorship.”
The PDP Chairman charged members of the party across the country to stay strong pointing out that the stolen mandate must be returned to the party as there is no going back on the resolve to seek justice in the court.
