The Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit, Moddibo Tukur, has asked that the annual budget of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, be reduced.
According to him, the budget which stands at N1tn is too.
He also wants the salaries of NFIU operatives to be captured as a sub-head under the yearly expenditure profile of the bank.

Speaking on Tuesday before the Senate Committee on Anti – Corruption and Financial Crimes, Tukur noted that since the NFIU was domiciled in CBN, even though as an autonomous agency, its salary structure and condition of service should reflect that of the CBN 100 per cent.
He pointed out that the N1 trillion budget of the CBN was 10 per cent of the N10.33tn projected for the country in 2020, demanding that something should be done about it.
