New Year Resolutions never go out of style. From weight loss to working harder, the list is usually endless. Some people make it elaborate and write it down, maybe paste it somewhere where it will be a daily reminder. Others just know there are a few things they want to focus on in the New Year. Regardless of which group you fall under, resolutions show tenacity and hope for the New Year.

The Next Edition talked to some Nigerians to find out what their new year resolutions are. Here’s what they had to say.

“I want to lose weight. I feel like I always say that each year but never follow through. I won’t take it out of the list till I accomplish it.” – Peace Akan

“I want to get closer to God, talk less and do more. I will also like to hit the gym more.” – Ebuka

“I don’t believe in new year resolutions. Do people still do those? My focus remains my focus. I am not making lists.” – Christy

“I’m expanding my business next year. That’s the main plan. Everything comes after that.” – Grace Leke

“I want to have a deeper relationship with God, I want to do better with my studies as well. I think that two will make for a good year for me.” – Esther Daniel

“Hmmm, I don’t know o. I just want to be in good health, is that a resolution? But really I don’t know. Planning is not exactly my strong suit.” – Oge

“Ask me again by March. This January I don’t even know how it will be. Ideally, I would want to start a business but let’s see by March sha. January you know is always somehow.” – Femi

“I have a lot of resolutions! I want to know God more, lose some weight, be more forward with people, do better at my job, take up some sort of productive hobby and a lot more. I’m really going all in this year with it. Ultimately, God will be the deciding factor.” – Ngozi

“Every year we get asked this question, hmmm, well I will say mine remains the same; focus more at my job and hopefully get a promotion and a raise.” – Frank

“With the way 2017 was, do we even have hope for 2018? My resolution is to find a way and leave this country. Yes o, I can’t even front! I’m tired of the status quo. Let me go out and see it’s hard, yes then I will know. But for now, there has to be something better. So hopefully for me it will be bye bye naija.” – Prince
