The Nigerian Air Force said it has killed scores of the Islamic State West Africa Province fighters, ISWAP, who gathered at Tumbun Hamma on the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said in a statement on Saturday that the bombings were carried out by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole on Friday, after the terrorists had fled the air strikes conducted by the Nigerien and Chadian forces around the Malkanori-Tumbun Rego area of northern Borno.

The statement said: “The Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole has inflicted heavy casualties on ISWAP elements in devastating air strikes conducted at Tumbun Hamma on the fringes of Lake Chad.

“The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its operations to completely degrade the terrorists in the North-East.”
