National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) on Wednesday released the November/December 2028 examination results, declaring that out of 45,307 candidates that sat for the examination, 29,274 scored five credits and above.
This number, NABTEB stated, included English Language and Mathematics, representing 72.79 percent.
Prof. (Mrs.) Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, the Registrar/Chief Executive, NABTEB, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the examinations in Benin City, Edo State capital.
She said 36,867 candidates scored five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics, representing 91.67 percent.
The Registrar pointed out that the outcome of the examination represented an improved performance trend compared to the previous year, 2017 November/December results, where 21,159 candidates, representing 52.74 percent scored five credits and above including Mathematics and English Language and 31,369 candidates, representing 78.19 percent scored five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics.
She said although the body had made progress, it was still very far below expectation considering the nation’s quest for rapid technological development and the significant role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.

“Let me emphasise that the recorded enrolment figure of 45,307 is still far below expectation considering the nation’s quest for rapid technological development and the significant role of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Nigeria.
“However, there was a marginal increase of 0.48 percent over and above 45,088 of total enrolment for same series of the certificate examination in 2017,” she said.
The NABTEB boss said the body is committed to embark on aggressive sensitization drive to make Nigerians see the need to take NABTEB examinations seriously in the country.
She also said that the modality put in place to check examination malpractice had yielded results, leading to the reduction of persons involving in it in 2018.
