Jose Mourinho says he wants to get a job like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United because he’s protected from getting the sack.

Solskjaer replaced Mourinho at Old Trafford last season and enjoyed an upturn in results before being handed the gig permanently.

This season Man United have been poor and sit two points above the relegation zone ahead of Sunday’s derby with Liverpool.

Despite the worrying start to the campaign, Solskjaer is not in immediate danger of being sacked as Ed Woodward and co. appreciate United is in a transition period, and the Norwegian is building for the future.

And Mourinho has pointed out that Solskjaer is lucky for this reason, as results in the present – which could see him sacked – are currently being overlooked.

“[United] did some good PR during the week to make the situation clear or to try to create a positive atmosphere for the game,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

“I think they did very very well. What I understood from [the interviews was that the objectives are the future.

“I am going to try to get a job like Ole has at this moment in the future, which is to speak all the time about the future and then you are protected about the present.

“I think it’s a great situation. He has a three-year contract, [it’s all about] the future and the young players.

“And just at the end of his message [he said] results are important. I think it’s a great job to do in such a giant club like Manchester United.”
