Sen. Andy Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate, has debunked rumours that he was arrested for money laundering.
He insisted that he was never arrested for any reason.
Speaking to news men in Awka, Anambra, on Sunday, Ubah said he was surprised when his attention was drawn to news in the media purporting that he was arrested in Lagos with a large sum of money.
He dismissed the story as the handiwork of mischief makers.
The Senator, who said he had reported the matter to the appropriate authorities, called on both the police and the Department of State Security, DSS, to unravel the source of the story.

He stressed that he was neither arrested nor been to Lagos where he was allegedly arrested for while. He also denied belonging to the political party linked to him in the story.
Ubah is the coordinator of President Mohammadu Buhari’s Presidential campaign in the South East.
He said that he had been in Anambra for the past one week preparing for the general elections.
“I am surprised at (about) the rumour; I have not been to Lagos for a long time.
“The DSS and the police know the person that was arrested, it was not me and I am calling on them to clear the air on this.
“I demand a probe into the source of this rumour,” he said.
On the postponement of elections, Ubah, expressed regrets adding that it was a price the country had to pay since INEC that announced the postponement considered it as a condition to get it right.
