The high numbers are coming a few days to June 1, when Nigerians are expecting more easing of the lockdown, especially in the area of interstate travels.

Below are some reactions from Twitter users to the figures.

Koni Baje: “378 in Lagos
“Please stop the narrative that you don’t know anyone who knows someone that has the virus.
“I know someone who has died from it!
I know someone who has recovered!
I know someone in isolation centre.
“Covid is real! Stay safe!”
Aunty Joy: “378 in Lagos ?
“Gone are those days when these numbers scare us.
“If ncdc like they should report 1million new cases, we’re already going back to living our normal lives.”

Odunlade Adekola: “553 new cases, 378 in Lagos. God heal the land, meanwhile let’s continue to stay safe and wash our hands regularly. Corona virus is not a joke don’t wait till it gets to you or someone close to you. Koni baje fun wa o ?”

Benue Breed: “553 new cases of COVID19 in Nigeria, with 378 in Lagos and lockdown has been relaxed.
“What is really going on, why is lockdown being relaxed while the number of cases are still rising?”

Allergic to crap: “Nigeria likes to be the first in bad stuff. See other countries slowing down their cases, some are even going virus free. But nah, it’s now 553 new cases with 378 in Lagos. If it’s a good thing we will be the least. Why can’t we be that giant of Africa for once.”

AyeMojubar “Lockdown relaxed to curfew, then Lagos escalated to 378 in one night.
“378 in Lagos is a signal that Nigeria is nowhere near the peak of the first wave of our own share of this pandemic, not to even think of easing any lockdown and allow people to return to the street.”

Tweets Monitoring: “So now all this corona virus positive individuals don’t have identities…they don’t have friends…they don’t have families.
“No one seems to know someone that know someone who knows someone that has it.
“378 in Lagos #tifesansa.”

Abdul Malik Afolabi: “Wow!!, 378 in Lagos, I don’t know if it’s only me, these numbers no longer ring bell as they used to be.
“Just normal evening cruise, what’s today’s scores?, ọmọ, na 300 ó, na 129 ó, and so on.
“E go be sha?”

Bashir Ahmad: “Things not looking good gaskiya, 553 new cases in Nigeria, 378 in Lagos alone. Taking responsibility is the only way that can slow down these numbers. Stay at home, when going out becomes necessary, wear a mask, observe social distancing and other NCDC guidelines. Let’s do it! ??”

Ayokunle: “378 in Lagos?. So because we did not send and mind NCDC again, they decided to get our attention with this?. This cant be real o. This is record breaking.”

Naija: “553 new cases of COVID19 in Nigeria today;
“378 in Lagos ??
52 in FCT
23 in Delta
22 in Edo
“Is not funny again o!”

Manlike_Bowale: “Laslas you go see say na random baba ijebu number NCDC deh drop ?
