The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Benue State Command, has arrested three suspects with a truck loaded with three hundred bags of cannabis sativa popularly known as Indian Hemp.
The suspects were arrested after operatives of the agency intercepted the truck along Aliade-Otukpo road.
The State Commander of the Agency, Mrs. Florence Ezeonye, who paraded the suspects and the banned substances before newsmen at command headquarters in Makurdi, said the suspects and the truck loaded with Indian Hemp were coming from Uzeba, in Edo when it was intercepted.
According to her, the 300 bags of the banned substance estimated to weigh four tonnes, were carefully concealed with over two hundred bags of white cement while heading to Kano its final destination.

The NDLEA Commander who expressed worries at the ingenuity adopted by criminals to beat security at check points at this period of COVID-19 lockdown, said if they had succeeded to transport the banned substances, the owner will be making almost N24 million at the expense of Nigerians.
She described the arrest as unprecedented saying the suspects will be prosecuted according to the law after investigation has been completed.
During their parade, the driver narrated how they were able to beat security check points before they got to Benue, explaining that they had taken advantage of the rains and convoy of trucks carrying essential items such as food to gain easy access.
He, however, expressed regret over his action while the two others present denied knowledge of what the truck was carrying.
