Felipe Anderson was on target at the London Stadium in the fifth minute as he right-footed a shot from very close range to the bottom left corner, as he put the Hammers on the driver’s seat.
Although Manchester United players responded by piling pressure on West Ham, dominating possession for some minutes, they did not get the reward they richly deserved.

In the 43rd minute, West Ham doubled their advantage after a left foot shot by Andriy Yarmolenko was deflected into United goal by Issa Diop.
For now, Manuel Pellegrini can afford to smile, while Mourinho contemplates whether his boys can fight back in the second half.
