Edo State on Sunday recorded the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 104 out of a total of 556 cases confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Meanwhile, the health agency put the total number of infections in the country as of Sunday at 36,663.
The body also disclosed that 11 COVID-19 related deaths occurred on the same day, bringing the total number of such deaths across the country to 789.
On the positive side, it said 15,105 patients have recovered from the deadly disease so far in the country.

The new cases according to the NCDC were reported from 18 states.
The NCDC update on the COVID-19 situation in country read: “On the 19th of July 2020, 556 new confirmed cases and 11 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
“Till date, 36663 cases have been confirmed, 15105 cases have been discharged and 789 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 556 new cases are reported from 18 states- Edo(104), Lagos(97), FCT(70), Benue(66), Oyo(61), Kaduna(38), Plateau(28), Osun(19), Akwa Ibom(14), Rivers(13), Katsina(13), Ondo(13), Ogun(6), Kano(5), Nasarawa(4), Gombe(2), Ekiti(2), Borno(1).
“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.
