The Police has impounded 23 vehicles with 281 passengers in Niger State for flouting the lockdown order put in place to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
Commissioner of Police and Chairman, Security Committee in the state, Adamu Usman, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) on Monday in Minna.
Usman spoke on the arrest shortly after monitoring the level of compliance with the lockdown in Chanchaga, Bosso and Paikoro Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, those arrested violated the order and would be dealt with in accordance with the state COVID-19 order.
The police boss said he was satisfied with the level of compliance on lockdown across the 25 local government areas.
He said that the command would continue to enforce and closely monitor compliance with the total lockdown order to achieve the objective.

Usman urged the people to be law abiding, observe safety tips, comply with the lockdown order and the social distancing aimed at enhancing safety and public health in the state.
“So far so good, we will continue to enforce and closely monitor compliance with the lockdown order to achieve the objective.
“We will sustain collaboration with sister agencies to sustain significant success in securing total compliance from the populace through community engagement.
“We will not hesitate to be decisive on any person or group who disobey the lockdown order,” Usman said.
He therefore called on residents to cooperate with the police and other security agencies deployed to enforce the order to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
NAN reports that the state security committee for enforcement of the order comprises the Brigade Commander, 313 Artillery Brigade; Comptroller of Customs, Controller of Immigration, Commandant NSCDC, FRSC and State Security Services.
