About 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State.
The new members are from a group within the PDP known as the United Niger Delta Forum, led by Mr Gabriel Ese.
The members were received at the APC secretariat in Lagos.
Welcoming them, the chairman of the APC in Lagos State, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, said they took a wise decision.
“We are happy that you have made the decision to join the progressive train today and we assure you that we will do our best to make you feel at home.
“Even as you are just joining us, we have accepted you as part and parcel of the APC and we will not discriminate against you.

“I assure you, you will not regret joining the APC. We shall work together like brothers and sisters to ensure that APC is greater than what it is in the state,” Balogun stated.
Speaking at the occasion, the leader of the defectors to APC said they were impressed by the success recorded so far by the Akinwunmi Ambode’s administration.
He pledged full allegiance to the party.
According to him, the APC, is the party of choice.
“We are so happy to be here and we will do our best to take the party to the next level,” Ese said.
