Mr. Adedeji Doherty, the Lagos State chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday commiserated with the people of Abule Egba community, especially the families of those affected directly and indirectly by Sunday’s pipeline explosion.
While wishing those who sustained injuries and receiving treatment in hospitals speedy recovery, he prayed for the souls of the dead.
In a statement made available to The NEXT EDITION, Doherty said it was with great shock that the news about the explosion was received, especially after experiencing other various explosions along the pipelines over the years.

“I think it is high time the Lagos State government reached a permanent agreement with the Federal Government and Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on this issue. We cannot continue to lose our sons and daughters to fire disasters that can be averted,” he said.
Doherty expressed belief that the only way to stop the disaster was for the NNPC to evacuate, acquire and compensate or relocate the owners of properties built along the pipelines in Lagos State.
He maintained that they could only plead with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government to accelerate the crystalisation of the compensation programme with President Muhammadu Buhari administration and the NNPC, especially as both leaders are from the same political party.
