Controversial Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has alleged that 27 members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been penciled down for arrest by the Police ahead of Saturday’s elections in Kogi State.
Melaye in a tweet on his personal handle on Monday alleged that the Speaker of the Kogi State Assembly, Matthew Kolawole, had submitted the names of PDP members in Kabba/Bunu to the Police for arrest.
He also listed some of the names of those to be arrested.
“Speaker Kolawole has Submitted 27 names of PDP members in Kabba/Bunu to the Police for arrest. Names include Abiola Okuta, Peter Akefe, Segun ogbonikan, Tope Banigoro, Ojo Oshoko, Solomon Owope, AMUPITAN and 20 others. Taofik Isah is submitting that of Ijumu soon,” he tweeted.

Senator Melaye called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, the Department of State Services (DSS) as well as the Nigerian Army not to “allow their institutions to be used to perpetuate crime.”
Recall that the Court of Appeal had nullified Melaye’s election as Senator representing Kogi West and ordered a fresh election.
His victory was challenged in court by Smart Adeyemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who alleged substantial non compliance with provisions of the Electoral Act, over-voting and other irregularities.
