The Deputy Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Hamisu Ibrahim-Chidari, has donated 13 vehicles to some schools, hospitals and security agencies in Makoda Local Government Area of the state.
News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that Ibrahim-Chidari also donated motorcycles to the security outfits, 60 chairs and writing materials to the schools and drugs to the hospitals.
The security organisations included the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and Nigeria Immigration Service, among others.
Speaking while presenting the items, the member representing Makoda Constituency, said the donation was part of his responsibilities as the representative of the people at the assembly.
“The donation I made, apart from being part of my responsibilities, is also to compliment the efforts of Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje on education, especially his recent declaration of free and compulsory primary to secondary education.

“I also donated ambulance to some hospitals aimed at ensuring that any patient referred to any of the major hospitals in the city can be conveyed without hitches”, he added.
According to him, the drugs would be distributed to all the hospitals in the local government area to be given to patients free.
He further explained that the items given to the security organisation was to encourage the officers and men to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
Ibrahim-Chidari added, “when I became a member of the house of assembly first in 1999, no community under my constituency had electricity, but I am proud to say that no fewer than 17 now have.”
Presenting the items to the beneficiaries, the Speaker of the house, Abdulazeez Garba-Gafasa, commended the member for the gesture.
He urged all members of the assembly and other political office holders in the state to emulate the deputy speaker in order to move the state and the country forward.
He added that such gesture would complement the efforts of state and the Federal governments towards promoting the education sector.
The speaker said that no government could move
forward without the contribution of other individuals, calling on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items.
Responding on behalf of other recipients, the representative of Kano State Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr. Shehu Usman, thanked the deputy speaker for the gesture.
